The following activities are suggested for home learning:
Reading: Read/re-read Snuggle Up and Read books taken home on the last day of school. Use the Greenleaf Learning Commons link to find other reading materials. Discuss: characters/setting/problem/solution. Retell the beginning, middle, and end. Non-fiction? Discuss learned facts.
Writing: Keep a writing journal. We have been working on writing a paragraph (hamburger writing). This includes a topic sentence, detail sentences (4 to 5), and a conclusion. Be sure to include capitals, punctuation, spaces between words, and adjectives (descriptive words).
Math: In math we were beginning to wrap up our 3D solids unit by creating 3D models. Use straws/popsicle sticks and tape or paper to create a cube, rectangular prism, or pyramid. Count the faces, edges, and vertices. What 2D shapes do you see? Also, take time to review counting coins to $1.00. Practise adding and subtracting math facts to 18 for speed and accuracy.
Please let your child know that I am thinking of them each and every day. Remind them that our classroom rule of always being kind continues at home with parents, siblings, and pets.
