This is certainly a challenging and rapidly changing time for our families, students, and staff. I hope you are all maintaining good health, both mentally and physically. I was pleased to connect with most of you on the phone and to hear how everyone is doing.
Premier Doug Ford announced today that Ontario school closures will continue until at least May 4. The intent is to keep all students engaged in distance learning during this time. I'll provide further information as I learn more.
In the meantime, continue to work through some of the suggestions given in the previous posts. Also, daily chores can become a wonderful teachable moment! Now is the time to work together to fold laundry, dust, and vacuum. Cooking or baking in the kitchen practices many mathematical skills as well as having the opportunity to investigate a variety of science concepts (Have your child think back to our Liquids and Solids unit. What happens when oil and water are put together? How about flour and salt?). Try an experiment that shows a "reaction" with vinegar and baking soda.
