Hopefully everyone has had a chance to see the slideshow of all Greenleaf staff prepared by Mrs. W. and Mrs. Marion (link provided in blog post entitled Week of April 14-17). It was great to "see" everyone again!
I have a few more extra activities for those needing more work. These activities are not submitted through the Hub for feedback.
Math: Count to 100 by 2's, 5's, 10's, and 25's. Then count backwards by 2's, 5's, 10's, and 25's from 100. Try starting at different points to count. Here is a hundreds chart if your child needs a visual:
Social Studies: Here is a map of Canada. Count how many provinces there are and how many territories. What province do we live in? Find it on the map. What provinces are our neighbours (to the west and east). Do you have family from another province? Find that province.

Message from Mrs. Little (gym teacher)
Hi my Grade 2 friends!
Week #2 of online learning....hoping you're getting some exercise or some sort of physical activity?! If not, I have just the activity to try. Let's start off easy this week and try out this video. There are 3 parts to the video. The first part demonstrates and practices the exercises. The second and third parts of the video go through the exercises without any breaks.
Success Criteria
Day 1
- learning and trying the different exercises in the video
-complete part 1 of the video
-the pushups are very challenging (30!) I don't expect you to complete all 30, do what you can and at your own pace and/or level....remember the different ways to do a push up (i.e from your knees)
Day 2
-complete part 1 and 2 of the video
Day 3
-complete part 2 and part 3 of the video
OPTIONAL
Day 4
-complete part 2 and part 3 of the video
Additional follow-up
If you would like you can send a comment (something you liked or didn't like about the video) and/or a picture of you doing the workout to your teacher's email.
Have fun and stay active!

My Lockdown Diary
Here is a fun writing project for those student's at home looking for more activities. If your family does not have a printer to print the pages of the diary, each writing excercise idea could be transferred into a workbook or pages of blank paper stapled together. It is called My Lockdown Diary and it contains weeks of writing ideas and daily prompts. See the link below:
https://www.mylockdowndiary.com/
Be sure to remind your child to always remember the capitals, punctuation, spaces between words, and WOW words (adjectives) for exciting writing. Have fun!

Week of April 14-17
I hope families found creative ways to enjoy their long Easter weekend! It's hard to believe we are moving into our 5th week since our last day of "regular" school at Greenleaf. The staff at Allan A. Greenleaf miss all of their students. Have a look at the link below for their messages. Thank you to Mrs. W. and Mrs. Marion for putting it together:
Here are a few extra activities if you find your child would like/needs more work. The extra activities listed in the Blog are optional. They are not submitted through the Hub for feedback.
Spelling Words
1. Chose 5-10 words each week from the Dolch word list below.
2. Print each word and circle the vowels (a, e, i, o, u).
3. Print a sentence for each word.
4. Practise reading and writing the words each day.
5. Ask a family member to give you a "word challenge" at the end of the week.
Reading, Writing, and Math assignments have been posted on the Hub for the coming week (April 14-17). As always, work through the assignments at your own pace.

This is for a valuable life-skill that many children will enjoy learning! Dance Mat Typing is an interactive, fun way for children to learn how to type.

Rechenka's Eggs
Be sure to check out a read-aloud assignment on the Hub. The book is called Rechenka's Eggs and it is a perfect story going into the Easter weekend. I wish all of the families in 2B an enjoyable holiday, albeit a quiet one.

Assignment Feedback
When uploading your child's work into the Hub, please use one of the following file types: PDF, jpg, or word document. Alternatively, the work can also be typed directly into the course (class) on the Hub.
Our course on the Hub allows me to provide feedback for each assignment. This is where you will find personal comments for your child's work.

Weekly Assignments
Primary students learning online require guidance and support from an adult. I want to reassure our families that I realize not all parents are available throughout the day. In speaking with each of you, I am aware that everyone's situation varies. The intent of the Hub course is not to overwhelm or cause anxiety. No student will be penalized for the length it takes to complete assignments. Therefore, you will notice I have not included due dates. Please work through assignments at your own pace. I will continue to add lessons and content.
Moving forward I realize not all families have access to a printer. I have had a variety of ways that the fraction worksheets/friendly letter/ and fairy tale elements have been handed in. Some children with older siblings or parents that are familiar with Google Docs have sent in assignments that way. Others have taken photos to submit. Another way was for a parent to type their child's friendly letter exactly as seen (no corrections were made) and then submitted. Let's get creative!
Be sure to have your child reading at least 15 minutes every day! Places to get books: from home, the Epic! account, the Greenleaf Virtual library, or Tumblebooks in the Hub to name a few.
